This camera offers excellent video quality for a "point and shoot camera". It is 720 so expect that quality - no more no less. As for the zoom, it only has a digital zoom... (continue)
I received this before a weekend trip and it turned out to be a very well rounded camera. It's not as small as an Elph but it's still just small and light enough to carry around in your pocket or purse for easy access. The 12x zoom lens is terrific and in well lighted situations even the digital zoom creates clear, sharp pictures... (continue)
I really liked the ability to adjust the settings to get a well exposed picture out of a range of situations that you can't always get with an Elph and the zoom lens allows you to frame a shot from just about any distance. The pictures are clear, bright and on par with other Canon camera's in it's class. There's plenty of features to play with like face detect and blink detect and the Image Stabilization works very well... . (continue)
From the time you press the power button to the time you take your first shot is about 1 second...which to me is pretty fast. Turning the camera off takes an extra second or so because it has to put the flash back down and bring the lens in... . (continue)
This camera is a joy to use. It has an automatic mode, a "super-easy" mode, 5 scene modes, a dedicated "special scenes" mode with less-used options, video, full manual, aperture priority, shutter priority, and Program mode, like an SLR.. . (continue)

Canon PowerShot 12.1MP Digital Camera - Black (SX200 IS)
The Canon PowerShot SX200IS is built with a compact design which enables it to be held in the hand with ease.
For a small-size camera, the Canon PowerShot SX200IS was amazingly equipped with a 12.1 megapixel resolution, and an awesome 12x optical zoom lens. This is really powerful zooming capacity uncommon for cameras this small. Also installed with optical image stabilizing technology, it guarantees that your images will not appear blurr y even when taken with a shaky hand.
The Canon PowerShot SX200IS also has an advantageous shutter speed range that runs from 15 seconds to 1/3200 second. The quality of the output of the Canon PowerShot SX200IS is outstanding, all thanks to its innovative and helpful features.
Canon PowerShot SX200IS seems like it has a brain of its own. A high IQ camera, it has a very powerful image processor, DIGIC 4 that works alongside iSAPS providing a wide range of functions like:
• Blink Detection – if a subject blinks, a warning appears for 3 seconds which allows the user ample time to retake the shot before the subject moves away
• Face Detection Self-Timer – the Canon PowerShot SX200IS only captures the image when all faces have been detected to have joined in after the function is activated
• Intelligent Contrast Correction – automatically brightens and adjusts dark areas in a scene to make certain the image taken remains of good quality Red-eye Correction – automatically removes the annoying red-eye effect that happens when flash is used
• Auto Focus – makes sure images are always crisp and clear. The Canon PowerShot SX200IS also has the option to record HD videos and connect to a HD viewing device.
This is like an added bonus along with its 3.0-inch LCD with a wide viewing angle. As for the settings, it has the “Smart Auto” function which automatically switches settings to the most appropriate one (from 18 settings) depending on the conditions it detects while shooting. Its presets are also advanced, and has 23 shooting modes (plus 11 Special Scene Modes) to choose from.
Canon made sure that when they introduced the Canon PowerShot SX200IS into the market; it could be used by inexperienced users and experienced users with ease and comfort. However, there are a few disadvantages that can be seen with this model.
It does not have the option to have an underwater case, which might frustrate users who want to use it for underwater photography. Its continuous shooting performance cannot handle too much fast movement and cannot be used for wildlife or sports photography (or the like).
The pop up flash design the Canon PowerShot SX200IS has can sometimes be annoying and might get damaged easily. And lastly, once you start recording a video, optical zoom and auto focus become inaccessible.
The disadvantages the Canon PowerShot SX200IS might pose are minimal and would not affect the average user. Most users would prefer this camera anyway because of its portability and vast automatic features (although some users would prefer to do more things manually).
For a typical point and shoot camera, the Canon PowerShot SX200IS has a lot of nice features which would be really rare in a camera that has this less bulk.
